Candidate Statement

I’m running for Rocklin City Council to return our city’s focus to the people and businesses in our city.  Growth for growth’s sake is not in the interest of the people or the businesses in Rocklin.  My hope is to create a plan for our city that, when executed, will improve Rocklin for its citizens.

I’m a proponent of extending Sacramento’s Light Rail system to Roseville.  This would be a major endeavor that would require working with both Roseville, Citrus Heights, Placer County and Sacramento Regional Transit. My vision includes a future where every 30 minutes there is a train going from Rocklin to downtown Sacramento.  This is a long range goal that will take at least a decade to work out with federal funding.

My experience includes: Executive at Sacramento Regional Transit (retired), MC Retirement Board Chair, Board Member of Business Improvement Districts (Del Paso and Power Inn), Trustee Placer Mosquito Abatement District, and President Breathe California Sacramento Region.

I believe the city council has made major mistakes in approving projects, making changes to the general plan and has created unnecessary traffic problems that will get worse in the future.  I do not like the fact the the council members have appointed people to fill vacancies on the council and then those people have have run for office.  When there is a vacancy, we should have an election.  Our council, has picked like minded people, instead of holding elections.

Did I say, I hate the traffic circles.  What knucle head thought theses were a good idea?  They abandon cyclists to completing with cars and are a hazard.  I heard Ricky at last years state of the city, explain that they used grant funds for these and so it was OK.  Miss using tax money is never OK.  Oh and did you hear, he wants to add one at Rocklin Road and Pacific?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sac State.  I worked as an Engineer and Production Chief at McClellan AFB.  We moved to Rocklin in January of 1989 and enjoy living in our beautiful city.

I am a Veteran who did two WestPac tours to Vietnam.  I am a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion.
